Welcome to my Blog! I'm so glad you stopped by.
To introduce myself, I am a 30-something mom of 2, and I run a (very) small business with my husband of 14 years. For some background info, I'm originally from San Diego, CA, and hubby is from the WV/MD border. We consider ourselves regular, hard-working people, who want to preserve all the greatness of this country for our two teenage children.
As a disclaimer, I do try to read all I can get my hands on, and am currently reading The Making of America, to learn more about the Constitution. I am by no means "well-read" or highly educated in any way, I simply want to become better informed.
I'm actually quite suprised at myself for starting this blog, because I am not normally publically outspoken in any way. I have never been interested in politics in the past, nor participated in any protest or done anything more than cast my vote every 4 years. I have voted for Reagan, Clinton (twice), Bush (twice), and McCain. I vote on the issues, but I do feel I am better informed lately about more than just the issues, but instead for what is best for our nation as a whole. (I can see the forest, not just the trees).
To my point, the only reason I am politically outspoken at this point in my life is due to the 2008 Presidential campaign.
To be clear, I am not a right-wing or left-wing extremist, but I do feel many of my opinions lean to the conservative side. To the contrary, I am not religious, I do believe in a woman's right to her own body, and I do not feel threatened by gay marriage.
So how can I call myself 'conservative'? I feel the same way many Americans I know feel.... that we are so far from the ideals that America was founded on, and we are, in all sincerity, at a crossroads in our country. I believe in the strength and independence of the people of this great nation, and feel that the sense of entitlement many people have is robbing them of their ability to care for themselves (as well as robbing hard-working people of their money to support them!).
This is not sustainable, and our current president wants to expand upon this premise at an unprecedented level.
I'd like to stop going in circles here and transpose some writings I did during the campaign. It was the first time I'd ever written my feelings about politics, and I did it just to get the outrage out of me. I journaled my feelings, very personal feelings, and you will probably laugh at me in some parts. But it is all honest and raw.
One of them starts out with some normalcy then goes astray and I get just plain silly! I hope you'll find it as strange as I did (hey, it was late at night!).
Thank you for reading, I'll post again soon with those writings. Then I would love to hear your comments.
