I realized I should probably mention what 'walk of life' I come from before someone reads my statements and deducts that I am cold-hearted and cannot relate to those who are having a hard time financially.
I have been a single mom, stay at home mom, work at home mom, and working mom (12 hours a day away from my 1-year old!); lived below the poverty line, as well as above it; lived in the city and in the country; lived on the coast and in the South; worked for the boss and have been the boss; and have helped loved ones and been helped by loved ones.
I know what its like to have searched for change in the couch and car, to buy milk for my baby while being a single mom, working 2 jobs and only seeing my baby while he's sleeping when I get home late at night.
I also know what it feels like to take risk and forego security, in order to build a better future for our family, by starting our own business. We haven't made it big yet, but we thrill at the prospect and it keeps us going every day.
